Band Of The Week - Michael Monroe!!

Michael Monroe- an oldie but a goodie.   Of course he will always be most well known for being: the-feminine-saxophone-&-harmonica-playing-singer-slash-frontman for finland's very own 80s rock giants, Hanoi Rocks, BUT he is also a well established solo artist and a major influence for many American 80s bands.  ::cough::GNR::cough::MotleyCrue::cough::
I feel like recently he has had some sort of renaissance going on.  He has a new band with Ginger from the Wildhearts, Sami Yafa from the old days of Hanoi Rocks, Steve Conte of NY Dolls fame, and Karl Rockfist from a whole bunch of bands (including Danzig) on drums.

Back in May the band above (who simply go by "Michael Monroe") played their first show in NYC at the Highline Ballroom.  Not only did they look great, but they sounded very tight and the songs were quality (Ginger has a supernatural knack for songwriting).  It was great to see all these guys playing together and working so well.  I always saw Ginger and Michael as both being the 'leading man' in bands, but the dynamic between them was very cool and fitting.

So Band of the Week simply goes to the newest band by Michael Monroe- Michael Monroe.  Enjoy!!  Here's some footage from the NYC show:
