Molly Hatchet - Justice (Steamhammer US)
Setherial - Ekpyrosis [IMPORT](Regain)

THOUGHTS: Dinky, dinky, dinky.   What a weak listing of releases after last week's bombardment of new shit to listen to.  I don'd have much to say about this, since there is so little to discuss, so I will skip right to the meat and potatoes of the post-

Pick of the Week- The Melvins grab this easily.  Although they are a solid band overall, they are hit or miss.  When you put out as much as they do, this tends to happen.  This is a hit.

Pick of the Weak-  The easy joke here would go something like this: "Molly Hatchet- does anyone still care?", but the bottom line is that this album is charming.  Yep, charming.  For those of you who go back 30 years with this band, you will be pleasantly surprised.  Times may be a' changin', but Molly Hatchet are not.  The focal song of the album is 'Fly On Wings Of Angels (Somer's Song)' which is a POWER BALLAD (I am a girl, so I am forced to like these) and is being released as the bands first single (good luck with that).  Molly Hatchet score points with this song because all profits from it will go to the Somer Thompson Foundation, which was set up after a 7 year old was found murdered in 2007.  A very nice gesture was made here, and since I can't imagine the Hatchet-men rolling around in dough, I appreciate this.

Soooo, who does this leave for Pick of the WEAK??  Gotta go with Lamb Of God.  Musically, I love Lamb of God, but gee-wiz,  is it really necessary to re-release all this old material again?  Granted some of the unreleased older music is very cool for the diehard fan to hear.

  1. Setherial's cd is worth a mention. Very dark.

  2. The boys from BTP ARE the boys from Lamb Of God, idiot. I'm sure Abe Spears gets royalities for the stuff he played on. I'm starting to think the more you write the less you know about anything. Seriously.
