FUCK YES!!!

Finally I have a legitimate reason to yack away about Adam Lambert.  This weekend in Auckland, New Zealand Mr. Lambert blessed the audience with this fabulous cover of Metallica's "Enter Sandman".
Apparently he played the cover in honor or his bassist's birthday that night.  I like!

My gay brothas in music unite!

Two of my favorite vocalists in music met this past Friday at the GLAAD Media Awards- Adam Lambert (greatness) and Rob Halford (God Himself).  If anyone can locate these photos in full size I will sell you my first born.

Tuesday's Metal Releases

Acheron - The Final Conflict: Last Days Of God (Ibex Moon)
Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment (RCA)
Brown Jenkins - Death Obsession (Moribund)
Drumfish - Under Under Hill
Fatalist - The Depths Of Inhumanity (Ibex Moon)
Impious - Death Domination (Metal Blade)
Megasus - Megasus (20 Buck Spin)
Morbid Angel - Blessed Are The Sick Re-Release (Earache)

THOUGHTS: I was going to give my thoughts this week, but instead I fell asleep.  The only thing I can say about this weeks selection is that the best one is the one that's not metal at all.  Adam Lambert.  You guessed it.  Check out the first song on the album Music Again which is written by Justin Hawkins of The Darkness/Hot Leg and Soaked which was written by Mathew Bellamy of Muse.

Check out Music Again, which sounds like a poppier The Darkness, with a a bit of Sparks and Cheap Trick sound thrown in.  This is not metal at all.

Did I miss all the rock and metal releases or is this just an extremely slow week?

Queen to play with Adam Lambert?

It's been far too long since I have last talked about my 8 octave angel.  And I am not talking about Geoff Tate.  Adam Lambert is back into the world of rock news lately after the drummer of Queen , Roger Taylor, talked about the possibility of a collaboration.  Listen to what Roger said about working with Adam:
"We did play in the finale of 'American Idol' with the two final guys, one of whom is . . . Adam," he said. "He didn't actually win, he only got 49 million votes, I think, but he is one of the most phenomenal singers and I think at some point in the future we’d love to — Brian [May, guitar] and I — would like to do something with him maybe. It may happen — we might do something with him in the future. He is phenomenally talented. He has one of the greatest voices I've ever heard."

Well, damn.  Isn't that a huge compliment if ya ever heard one!
Here is a clip of Adam singing with Queen to refresh the ol' memory:

Daily Metal

Recently I have been on a glam rock kick thanks to a very special Mr. Adam Lambert .  His album, For Your Entertainment, is due out on Nov. 23rd, but the album cover was just released for the world to see.  TOTAL.GLAM.ROCK.  I really hope the music matches the image.

(the whole outerspace androgynousness totally reminded me of the late great Jobriath)

Anyway for today's daily dose of metal, I thought I would make a glam rock playlist for ya.  This music really played off of the early metal artists like Quiet Riot, Alice Cooper, & KISS, and later bands like WASP, Motley Crue and Poison, so it's all intertwined.  And may I add, that the reason I even know who Adam Lambert is from Chris Caffery  (Savatage/Trans Siberian Orchestra) raving about him to me.  Chris was right!

When falsetto meets falsetto

American Idol winner Adam Lambert  may not be metal, but he is a cherubic little glam rock angel with an insane vocal range.  Plus, he's got rave reviews from Slash and Brian May, so bitch please, I am not the only one who is a certified Glambert asshole.  Anyway, his album debuts in November and the hype around it is already pretty intense.  But- no one really knows what to expect.  Will he stick with his rock roots or go the American Idol-pop-music way?
Well, you can exhale!  (I know every metal head is dying with anticipation).  Three songs from his album have been released to some media outlets and the reviews are good.  Here is the kicker- JUSTIN HAWKINS FROM THE DARKNESS /HOT LEG wrote and plays guitar on one of the tracks- "Music Again".  I am so fucking excited for this that I could crap my pants.  The second this shit is leaked I am breaking the law and posting it here for you all to enjoy.

Adam Lambert- the new Freddy Mercury?

New month of metal approaching. So, what better way to begin the month of metal than talking about American Idol. Adam Lambert - he isnt metal, but he does rock and he certainly could falsetto himself into the hearts of bands like Rush and Deep Purple. A little update on our boy Adam is that he is denying rumors of him being asked to front a new version of Queen. As much as I love Adam this is probably a good thing.
