Wovenhand at The Knitting Factory, 10/04/10
Not too long ago I crowned Wovenhand as band of the week. Well, to verify that they deserved the honor, I saw them live when they hit Brooklyn in early October. The show was intense and powerful - words I would not often use to describe folk music, which generally makes me think of a lighter, more playful vibe. It was a great show.

New Band Of The Week - Wovenhand!
Wovenhand are one of those non-metal bands that headbangers swarm to like flies to shit. Experimental, folk, acoustic artsty fartsy music. And it is DAMN good. This is for the metal head who like Jarboe, David Tibet, The Swams..... and other pretentious yet deserving musicians. If you are not a music snob, then just associate it with someone like Neil Young.
Last Tuesday I kissed the ass of Woven Hands most recent album, The Threshingfloor, which I actually called 'brilliant', and now with the announcement of their upcoming tour, it seems obvious that they need to be my Band Of The Week. Check this out!

Tuesday's Metal Releases
Danzig - Deth Red Sabaoth (Evilive Records)
Halford - Live In Anaheim (Metal God Entertainment)
Ozzy Osbourne - Scream (Epic)
Salem - Playing God (Pulverized Records)
Vince Neil - Tattoos & Tequila (Eleven Seven Music)
Wovenhand - The Threshingfloor (Sounds Familyre)
THOUGHTS: My poor sweet angelic Ozzy needs to throw in the towel. What a nightmare this album is. Even still, Pick of the Weak goes to Danzig for Deth Red Sabaoth. If the spelling of the album isn't annoying enough check out the vocals. JESUS.
Opposite of those two albums is Wovenhand's The Threshingfloor, which easily gets named this week's Pick Of The Week for being brilliant. Seriously, this is a great and beautiful album. I am verklempt.
