Some Quotes from last night's Roast Of Dee Snider

The title says it all- here are some of the best quotes from Dee Snider's Rock N Roll Roast:

Dee Snider: "Jim Norton's career is going so poorly, he's opening for my son, Shane."
Eddie Trunk: "You can feel Twisted Sister's love for Dee by their complete lack of attendance tonight."
Eddie Trunk: "Dee, you're in great shape. Maybe from running from your good career choices."
Zakk Wylde on Mark Metcalf: "His voicemail just says, 'Yes, I'm available. BEEP.'"
Zakk Wylde on Shane Snider: "Man, those are some big gay shoes to fill."
Craig Gass on Zakk Wylde: "Zakk, Sons of Anarchy called. They want you back at the clubhouse."
Lita Ford to Dee Snider: "I hope menopause hasn't affected your singing voice."
Alice Cooper (via video) to Sinder: "Congratulations on your regionally successful music career."
Jim Florentine: "I thought Scott Ian came to my house, but it was a garden gnome."
Jim Norton: "You can tell Lita is a Ford because no one has wanted to get inside her since the early '80s."
Penn Jilette: "Lita Ford is one of the best female guitarists. That's kind of like being the world's tallest jockey."

Alice Cooper to hit broadway?

This would be a dream come true.  Alice Cooper + musicals = pure delight. Apprently the concept behind the musical would be the theme to the 1975 hit album, Welcome To My Nightmare. This would be amazing. Alice was quoted on Rollingstone.com as saying:
"Do it in a set show, do it all out rock," he said, "so you're in a concert. You can do so much more if you're not traveling. You can set things up, put people in the audience that are in the show, so the guy sitting next to you might fly up in the air. I love the idea of an insane asylum, of being in an insane asylum, where you walk in, they lock the doors, and then they stand there, so you're in. The claustrophobia thing is good."
Also, he mentioned in the interview that if that story didnt work out he has been throwing the idea around about the original band lineup and the story line behind that.  This sounds very similar to the broadway hit Jersey Boys, only the music is not annoying and high pitched. (sidenote: I loved Jersey Boys)

Update on Alice Cooper & Rob Zombie's Gruesome Twosome tour

Alice Cooper is probably my second favorite artist of all time, so I am allowed to poke a bit of harmless fun at him.  This promo for the upcoming Gruesome Twosome tour looks like it's a show meant for an Elementary School's Halloween party.  The live show will be lots of fun, I am sure (although Rob Zombie will have to kick it up a few notches- recently his tours haven't been that great), but shit.. this promo is silly.  I wish they featured more music and less of the cheese.  I've always loved both of these artist mostly for the music- the campy stage show is fun, but should come second!

No new dates have been announced yet, but I anticipate them to be released within the next few days.

Horror meets metal

The "Gruesome Twosome" tour has just been announced.  It's going to feature Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie.  It looks to me like this is a co-headlining gig, but really it should be Zombie opening for the Coop.   So far the only dates announced are a few in Canada, but more will be announced in the following couple days.
It was inevitable that these two would eventually work together.  Besides the fact that the two have obvious similarities, Zombie's guitarist, Piggy D. has also been working closely with Alice.  Piggy is a graphic designer who works with his photographer wife/girlfriend/whatever-she-is on a lot of the Alice Cooper merchandise, and the packaging of his most recent album.

The Day The Music Died

Not exactly metal, or even rock, but 51 years ago was the big plane crash that killed the Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, and Richie Valens.
In other completely un-related news, here's a video of Alice Cooper from right before the Grammys:

The Grammys are useless, but what the heck

Some metal related winners from the Grammys include:
Best hard rock performance – AC/DC – “War Machine”
Best metal performance – Judas Priest – “Dissident Aggressor”

I love Priest, but it's really silly that they won for a live performance of a song written in '77.  Grammys have no idea when it comes to metal/hard rock.  The award didnt even make it to the live broadcast (surprise surprise), but here is the video of Halford accepting the award:

Also, Alice Cooper announced the nominees and winner for best Rock Album.  The nominees were:
AC/DC - Black Ice
Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood - Live From Madison Square Garden
Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
Dave Mathews Band - Big Whiskey And the Groogrux King
U2 - "No Line On The Horizon"

Expectedly, Green Day won.

Many moons ago today....

Because today's metal releases were less than fabulous, let's go back to 1989 when on this exact day Alice Cooper released Trash.

Remember this single.... 'Hell is Living Without You'?   With Richie Sambora and Bon Jovi. hahaha!
